Equi Dressage | Joyce Abraas
I specialize in the field of Biomechanical Bitfitting, trained by Karin Toetenel of 2FitHorses. From a young age I came into contact with equestrian sport and based on this passion I set up a company to guide riders and horses on their way to the right equipment. The bridle and the bit play an essential role in the communication between horse and rider. By testing different types of bits, bridles and pressure pads, it is possible to review the right choice for horse and rider. When we only look in the mouth, a wealth of information is missing to draw a good conclusion. Finding the right combination is a piece of the puzzle in the larger picture. A lot can be achieved with bitfitting, but if your saddle is not positioned properly, advice will also be given on this. In addition, you will also have to have the riding aspect in order. Bitfitting is not the answer to everything, but can be an essential part when it comes to horse and rider performance.
From my experience as a Business Manager in the Petrochemical Industry, I don’t believe in short-term solutions. That means that I value the contact with my customers. Contact that continues after an appointment, so that I stay informed of the progress after the consultation. And i will answer any questions quickly. For me, maintaining long-term relationships is directly linked to achieving optimum results.
More than just changing a bit
Equi Dressage is not tied to a brand in the choice of bit, but of course everyone has their preference in brand and material. Equi Dressage works standard with the brands Neue Schule, Trust and Sprenger. However, if these bits do not fit your horse, we can deviate from this.
A bridle puts a lot of pressure on the head and when it does not fit good around the ears of the horse, this has a strong negative influence on the connection. The bridle is therefore carefully checked during a Bit Fitting.
The question “what is a good bridle” there’s no good answer possible because it depends a lot on the horse. The preference for a bridle is good quality leather, which is correctly anatomically shaped to the horse.
Pads play an important role with optimum support. The pads from 2FitHorses are specially developed and available for under the noseband (high noseband and low noseband) and under the headpiece.
The pads ensure that the pressure behind the ears or behind the lower jaw is distributed optimally and evenly. This makes it easier for the horse to get the right connection. Horses experience it as pleasant and it gives the rider a more stable and soft connection while riding.
The pads can be purchased during a Bit-Fitting, but can also be ordered separately.
