Optimal connection and communication between rider and horse!
The purpose of bitfitting
A well-fitting bit is of great importance for good communication between horse and rider. The purpose of bitfitting is to advise the rider in the search for the right bit for his or her horse. This is to prevent trauma and to communicate optimally with your horse while riding. Bitfitting is not just for “problem” horses, it plays an important part to prevent problems. For example, if you are going to train a young horse, you have purchased a new horse, are going to make the transition to dubble bridle, or because you just want to improve your feeling of riding even more.
We start the consultation by checking the entire horse, the head, the first part of the neck, sensitivity of the back and reflection of the hindquarters. The shape and sensitivity of the tongue, lips, layers and palate are important here, but correct teeth are also important for proper functioning of the head and neck. Before the rider starts the riding part of the consult, all movement restrictions, sensitivities, deviations and / or traumas are determined. On the basis of this analysis it can be determined which bit seems suitable.
The bridle of the horse is also checked. In addition to the suspension, it is also important that the headpiece does not pinch the ear, the attachment of the neck strap and the 1st cervical vertebra. The noseband must be positioned at the correct height, with enough freedom for the bit. After checking the current bit and precisely adjusting the bridle, we gonna watch how the horse moves when the rider is riding. Here the suspension, head and neck position, connection, equality and effect are checked. The feeling of the rider is of great importance for an optimal end result.
